This dress was for EvaDress Patterns’ Contest. I used the a vintage vogue reproduction, EvaDress pattern #D40-359. The pattern was really nice, and pretty easy to make. However because I made it in two days, it was a little stressful. The dress was cut a little narrowly, so I made it 5/8" wider on each side seam. I used the long sleeve pattern piece, but shortened it to make the sleeve mid-upper-arm length. I was going to make the belt included in the pattern, but ran out of time because I needed to take photos for the contest and was running out of daylight. I intend to make it the first chance I get, though.
I really love how this design turned out. The 1940’s cut is extremely easy to wear, and flattering — especially with the rusching on the hips and bust. I can’t wait to wear it somewhere.
I used 4 yards of grey, black, white & brown diamond-printed cotton. I also used 3/4 yard of brown single-fold bias tape to hem the sleeves.

This is really beautiful and congratulations on being a featured member. I enjoy looking at all our doll clothes creation as I used to sew for my dollies as well. Your costumes are wonderful too and you are definitely not just for ‘home-sewing’ as someone said. Very accomplished at such a young age. Give yourself a pat on the back.
