Description

I saw an old 50s photo someone posted on a blog which inspired me to make this dress. That blog is unavailable right now so I can’t link to it :( I think I saved the photo on my computer at home though so I will have a look for it later on.

I used a free tunic dress pattern – E971 from BurdaFashion. I modified View A. I cut it off at the waist, added an interfaced waist band, and a full gathered skirt. I had to make the elastic casing in the sleeves longer than it was meant to be because they were too loose.

The neckline is a little bit too wide – I would definitely narrow this if you make it.

I am wearing a petticoat in all the photos to give it some oomph.

I made the belt to go with it, and a basket liner from the leftovers.

Material Notes

I found this printed linen in one of my favourite fabric stores.

I also love this dress, unfortunately I’m a lot shorter and wider than you! I know there are some patterns out there for me though, too. The pictures in Budapest are wonderful. Just read an article about what a beautiful and cultural city it is. I’ll visit someday. I was curious what the shoes were, lined up along the wall along the river.

First of all: I repeat myself over and over: I love the fact that someone makes/posts pictures of my hometown! Beautiful. (the dress too! :)) And finally someone who has a favorite fabric store that even I might find -not on the other side of the globe… So where is that? Köszönöm! ;)

It’s actually one of the I Love Textil shops :) The one at Móricz close to the 6 tram stop. It’s tiny but the girl who usually works there is super nice. And there is another store just around the corner from there on Karinthy which has some nice fabric. Not sure the name of that one though.

It’s a shame we haven’t run into each other yet… I know the shop. I go to their other ones more often: Jászai M. tér, Vámház krt. Small wolrd…
      Have a nice day!

It looks gorgeous, and as I understand it, it’s not expensive to travel to Budepest from Denmark. I’ve always wanted to visit eastern Europe! :-)
