Indi's English Tea Party Dress

I made this dress for Indi when we went to England last year. It was made from some vintage fabric that I had for years but never quite knew what to use it for. I found the 1978 Simplicity pattern in an op shop and thought it too adorable to pass.
This pattern definately tested me! I did learn new skills though like button holes, gathering and sewing with slippery velvet!

Material Notes

Vintage cotton, velvet and buttons.

If I make this dress again I will start the gathered sleeve frills from the front as they didnt come out evenly, so if I do the same mistake atleast it will be at the back and not the very noticable front!

Garment Type
Bohemian, Vintage
Cotton, Velvet

Awww…don’t be so hard on yourself! A lot of times we are the only ones who see the errors we make but I understand what you mean. Your daughter seems very pleased with her party dress and she looks lovely in it. Great job!

This so sweet and the fabric is great. Your “model” looks very cute too!
