Description
I made this dress earlier this summer, but I just now got around to photographing it. It’s made from a printed chiffon that I bought from Wal-mart. I drafted the pattern using my own measurements. I wanted to experiment with creating a ruffle skirt since I’ve never made one before. I only had 1.5 of a yards of fabric though, which wasn’t enough to make a full gathered skirt; so instead, I sewed the skirt together using elastic thread in order to create the effect of a ruffle. I shirred the waist and the raw edges were finished off using bias tape which was made from the same chiffon fabric. Instead of a zipper for getting in and out of there are buttons going down on the side of the dress. I hope that you like it (:

I used to love the Walmart fabric tables! When I was in college they had $2 tables…. everything was $2 /yard. It was fantastic. Anyway, great fabric choice! The photos are lovely, as usual.

Thank you wzrdreams! :) I know, Walmart fabric has honestly given me the freedom to feel like I can just make anything without worrying about ruining an expensive piece of fabric! I’d be broke without them! haha

I love the print! I wish they would bring back the fabric section at Walmart here in Canada. I used to pick up neat stuff there. Very cute dress.

Thank you! Oh I know, I don’t know what I’d do without Wal-mart’s fabric section. They were going to get rid of the one that I go to, but then they decided that they got enough business. I’m pretty sure that’s because of how much I buy from them. haha.
