I bought a beautiful silk sari on my trip to India last year (6yds of pure silk in a deep blue/purple with a mustard section and stunning gold detail). I drafted a pattern for myself, based on a typical 1950s silhouette. It has an integral net petticoat to help the skirt flare. I used the decorative border to make a matching belt/ cummerbund. was the fabric difficult to use?

No, not at all! It’s pure silk, so you have to be careful not to snag it and also use a fine, sharp machine needle or it can pucker, but otherwise pretty easy to work with.

Absolutely beautiful! I love how you’ve used the borders of the fabric to make the hem (or it looks like you have, at least!) and the matching cummerbund :)
