I just fell in love with this fabric. From far away it’s so beautiful and from up close, so interesting. It’s like an Indian forest teeming with camels and deer hunters. I decided to make it into a dress for a wedding I was going to.
I used Mccalls 5806, which looked like it would be exactly what I wanted, but what a vile pattern! It was the most unflattering thing I’ve ever put on. The bust was so short and had way too many gathers. I ended up redrafting the bodice myself, adding like two inches to the top and taking away the gathers on the side. I am so happy with the final result. It fits perfect now.

Quite a stunning redo!
That fabric choice is commendable. What could have been pedestrian, is now a statement.
