Defied tradition (of wearing red, pink, gold or any other bright colours) and made myself a black and white cheongsam for the Chinese New Year. Inspired by one of the twenty cheongsams featured in “In The Mood for Love”. Recycled the bodice for my Tulip Cheongsam last year and extended the bottom with an A-line.

I love that you made a cheongsam in a non-traditional fabric!

Thank you! It’s one of the ways to help cheongsam make a come back to everyday-wear. Silk brocade are sometimes stereotyped as “waitress uniforms”.

Thank you Leslie! The fabric is the highlight of the dress. I definitely hope to “casualize” and modernize the cheongsam.

Thank you Laureloo! I have a soft spot for cheongsams. Conservatively sexy!
