A basic skirt I’ve wanted to make for a while: brown glen plaid a-line skirt with patch pockets. This time I lined it with silk charmeuse instead of your typical polyester or acetate lining fabric—what a dream! (All thanks to an article about lining with silk on BurdaStyle, heehee.)

Very nice! I have a similar fabric in my stash since quite a while without knowing what to do with it – maybe i will make a skirt like yours!

i love this outfit- clean lines, great fit, and small details like pockets and ruffle that don’t overwhelm. is the skirt from a pattern? or self drafted?

Thanks! The skirt is made from my favorite skirt pattern, Simplicity 8418 (from 1969). I’ve made many versions, including this one here: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/tulip-pocket-skirt

That skirt is perfect! I love what you’ve done with the direction of the plaid on the pockets :-)

Thanks! I got the idea for the pockets from my 1930s Sears catalog book. So simple but adds a nice touch!
