I started this project in summer. Unfortunately my crappy cheap sewing machine had some pretty big issues handling the knit fabric. So I had to put the project aside after just a few stitches. A couple of months later I came across an old Singer 237 on eBay classifieds. It’s a machine from the 60ies or 70ies, still made from metal. I’m in love with this old lady! Not only does it look nice but it sews like heaven: Smoothly, straightly and above all: Every fabric I want it to. Including knits!
After fixing that sewing machine issue the summer top was actually very nice and simple to sew. I learned a lot again, including the fact that you don’t need to cut knit fabric on the bias (which … uhum … I did).
I cut the shirt it 2 sizes smaller than my actual size. When I was finished cutting I realised that I had totally forgotten to add the seam allowances. Never mind – the top fits me perfectly. I guess if I had added the seam allowances it would have been to loose. So now, in early December I am finally done with my Summer Top project. I’ll propably have to go on holidays to a warmer country now (-:

Gorgeous top! I also love older sewing machines, I have two that are far older than me and still going strong :)
