I think I have finally, finally caught up with all the projects I’d been meaning to make for months. This is the last one. A friend had a little baby girl back in January (I know… better late than never). The baby will be able to wear this little frock in about a year’s time. I’ve always bought/made things for new mums that their babies can wear in a little while. The advantages: a) even if I am a little late delivering the present, it will still fit, and b) new parents usually receive many things for the first few months anyway.
The lining is made from some cotton that had left over from a baby blanket. The cutsie buttons were originally bought for a completely different project that never saw the light of day. I tried to copy the little ship in the embroidery of the pocket I added for a bit of fun. I think an applique would have been neater – above all because the only wool I had available was strangely stretchy.
I’ve been trying to add another picture, a close-up of the buttons with the lining, but somehow the system doesn’t agree. Sorry.
