I made myself this dress as a birthday present. Unfortunately, its slightly bridal air (long, white) makes it impractical for everyday wear. But that’s okay, because it makes me happy to flounce around the house in it!
The fabric was ordered online; when I saw it I was immediately reminded of The Lord of the Rings, especially Eowyn’s white gown. With that as the vague inspiration, I started with Simplicity 8722, a vintage maxi dress pattern, but ended up taking in the sides a lot to get the look I wanted. I was barely able to squeeze this dress out of 1.5 yards of fabric, but just managed to do it after modifying the sleeves to take up less fabric.

This is lovely. And I would so wear it for everyday! It’s too pretty not to show off.

I think the print and not being lined helps to make it more chic than bridal. It is lovely.

I think it’s beautiful! If you want to make it more “everyday wearable” maybe you should try dip dye it. I’d go for something like this. But make sure you use colours that dye polyester fabric.

I wear a lot of white and would wear this during summer, with contrasting accessories to reduce the bridal effect. I’ve favorites it, it is just lovely :)
