We were planning a casual Italian themed dinner with friends and I wanted to paint a shirt to wear. I was looking for inspiration when I saw the 12" high words I had painted on the wall of my kitchen – “Il Dolce Far Niente”. It’s Italian for “The sweetness of doing nothing.” It was the perfect message for my shirt. So I created stencils for the lettering in different sizes and styles, then spray painted the message on the fabric. I finished the design with my new rhinestone kit that works with my Slhouette digital stencil cutting machine. I cut the rhinestone stencil, ironed the stones on and voila. How do you say voila in Italian? Anyway, I’ve been playing a lot lately and exploring the capabilities of my new “toy”. The rhinestone butterfly shirt was another fun project.
