Finally: a coat. I never made one before and I’m not sure I’ll be making one again since it was a LOT of work. Everytime I picked up my books to study, I actually wanted to work on it. Anyhow, it’s finished now and I’m pretty much pleased with the result. It’s Simplicity 2311 by the way. I might consider lowering the loops for the belt, since the pattern is made for women of about 1.62 – 1.67 meters and I’m 1.80 m tall. I should have known, that’s always a problem… But other than that I think it’s ok! It was a challenge and I pulled it of!
The coat isn’t made of wool (as you might expect), but out of a polyester/viscose blend, which is very soft. The lining is made out of beige polyester, quilted with cotton.

Very nice coat, you should be proud of it since it is a lot of work and you did it.

It looks very good. I agree with the previous commenter: the loops don’t really look like they are too high on your body. They seem to sit at the natural waist, which is where they should be. You may want to check your back length measurement. It might be that most of your height is in your legs.

i agree, they don’t look too high! you’re standing still though, so it might be more uncomfortable when you’re moving. in any case, don’t be afraid to have a higher waist, it makes a tall person’s legs look a million miles long…

Great work! The coat looks very good and well-made. If you haven’t mentioned the loops I’d never noticed… I’m planning a couple (!) of trench coats myself, but I have to start now to get one finished by next winter, because it sure is a LOT of work!!
