“…….will you make me a shirt?” asked the little brother.
“what kind of shirt do you want?”
“you know, like a regular shirt….like a t-shirt” (why do they always want t-shirts??)
so we dove into the stash and dug up a piece of fabric that wasn’t too girly for a 14 year old boy, took some measurements, and dug up a pattern (the pattern was supposed to be for knits, but it had enough ease that the woven fabric worked alright).
he thought that helping would be cutting it out and watching me sew it. HA! i made him sew most of the straight seams (which he did quite well on). not a t-shirt, but still really cool.
(gotta love the dazed and confused look on his face……“huh? you want a picture?”)
some novelty calico that i had in my stash (from walmart i think), buttons (that i also had on hand)

Awesome shirt! I’m planning to make something (soon, I promise!) for my little sister, but she’s not going to help, being a few thousand miles away, so I envy you and your brother (in a good way) that you had a chance to share such an experience! Oh, and I guess they DO all want t-shirts – at least both of our boys (AND my husband himself) do! :-)
