This piece was a total experiment. I didn’t plan it out or do any drawings. For the main bodice I used a collection of necktie pieces that were left over from another project. I felt inspired to sew them all together into something totally new. For a contrast to the rather rigidness of the corset-like bodice I decided to soften it up using vintage doilies along the bottom and also created little ‘cups’ for the bust area. The bodice is also top stitched in an unusual pattern using gold, silver and yellow threads. It ties together securely in the back with a large red satin ribbon. I had fun making this piece because it allowed me total creative freedom.
