Description

Lovely blouse in silk charmeuse, unfortunately a little too big, but i love it! The pattern reminds me of the 1940ties, and I added the gold buttons and white trimmings to give it a nautical feel. Instead of making those loop-things that the pattern called for I made buttonholes, but I would tweak the front a bit if I was to do this again… I finished off the inside of the shoulderpiece by hand to make the finish as pretty as possible, picture 3…

Sorry for the poor quality of the snapshots, I took them myself, and at night…

Material Notes

Navy silk charmeuse, white satin trimmings, gold buttons

I would love to, but honestly I don’t really know for sure… It was made from a leftover piece of fabric I had in my stash, and I just checked it I had enough for all the pieces but didn’t measure it.

If I had to guess, I would say a metre or maybe a little more (that wold be 1 1/4 yards)

    Ooo so cute.

I’m plotting to sit down to alter the pattern for this today, or to alter the dress to make the shirt to be more precise. Is it me or are the instructions even worse then normal for burda? Any advice you can give?

True, the instructions are terrible, and I have to admit that I almost didn’t use them. After having pondered over them for half an hour I put them away and winged it, and it really isn’t that hard to make.

OMG I am really struggling with the sleeves, any words of wisdom?

Not really ones that I can explain clearly… I guess I’m too much of a visual person:-) But here goes anyway…
I’m guessing that you’re having problems attaching the sleeves to the top, as the rest is really rather straight forward… I sort sort of folded the corner, so there is a little pleat that probably shouldn’t be there, but it was the only way I could get it to work… Hope this helps…

Oh, and in case you make this mistake, as I nearly did, it is important that you attach the sleeves before stitching the side hem!

Thank you, I think you just saved my sanity. I’ve never encounted a sleeve like this before. A pleat at the corner makes sense. Cheers for your help.

I’m just glad it made sense to you:-) When you’ve figured the pattern out it is quite easy, and it makes a beautiful blouse… Actually I’m making it again, although I’ve changed the front quite a bit, and it’s really quickly done;-)
