Description
Here are some bathers I made using the Alison pattern on the Burdastyle website. I altered the pattern by omitting the back tie and adding a tie to the halter neck instead of a clasp. I think they turned out really well for my first try at making bathers. Next time I would alter the pattern to allow for more coverage up top. You can read more at my blog Sew/Cook

Thank you for all the great comments. I have a few other projects in the pipeline at the moment but I might redraft the pattern and try again. When I do I’ll be sure to put the redrafted pattern up on Burdastyle.

Wow, I think it’s great. Although, yes, as you say, a little bit more coverage on the top would be more flattering. But you can be proud of it – I would never have the gutts to try my poor skills on a bathing suit! Thumbs up!!!

Great job, I’ve been looking at one of the other bather patterns on Burdastyle and Textile Traders are only about 5 minutes away :) PS-wish I had a pool in this weather!

Your Alison swimsuit is nice, although I would cover more in the top. Thank you for the information about how you sew it, since I’m also thinking of making one.

It’s so well made that I’d wear it, and I’m a guy. Take a bow!

You did a great job! But I think I see some of my own problems with it :-). More lateral coverage, yes, but don’t forget to add a bit to the body length so that you get vertical coverage as well. In fact, I found mine needed the back ties desperately so I wouldn’t flop out the sides :-(..

That’s the classiest one piece I’ve probably ever seen! Beautiful work!

You did a great job, so glad you posted this, it gives me a heads up on the same pattern alterations I may need to do and your blog has some great information on doing the croquis, thank you.
