Description

I love spots and came across this fabric while looking on-line. I decided to make a dress and short cape for a friends birthday party we had coming up. Now I don’t know about you, only I never seem to be able to keep anything just hanging on my shoulders from slipping off; (how Grace Kelly managed to hold jackets and cardigans around her shoulders I will never know.) So after seeing a cape with a belt going through it, I thought that I would give it a go. Pleased to say it works and the cape stays in place. The last photo is where I got the ideal for the cape

Oh wow what a great outfit, love the cape. Did you use a pattern for the dress & cape?

Hi Thanks for your comments. The dress was made using a old Butterick Pattern number 5106. I did not like the Jacket they had with the dress so I made the cape pattern myself. The ideal was from seeing a photo of a cape from last winters Valentino’s collection.

Glad that you shared this! Thank you :) I always get annoyed with my cape that slipping off from my shoulder. I’ll used your tip next time. Your dress turned-out nicely, great fitting and cute back detail. Lovely work!
