I wanted to make a trench coat but use fun fabric and when I saw this fabric I thought it was Ideal. The fabric is called “Hot Stuff” and its quite a heavy weight fabric made for upholstery. I used the Talea pattern but left out the shoulder detail. The only thing I altered on this pattern was the sleeve length, I have very long arms. I have made some fabric covered buttons which I have yet to attach but I think i want to use some sort of press studs, and just use the buttons for decoration, what do you think? I am really pleased with it, it took me a while to finish as i wanted it to be perfect so I took my time and i’m glad I did. Can’t wait to wear it now!!

Is it called ‘hot stuff’ fabric because you warm it up with your bum when you sit on it?:) :) I wonder….
It is a great trench coat, I gather it’s raining in Manchester? Then, necessity and frivolity are combined perfectly in your creation!

I think your dare paid off. Fun bold fabrics are my favorite but I am a little scare to look to over the top. This coat is beautiful, bold, fun and a fashion statement.
