I made this top using Simplicity 2593 (by Cynthia Rowley). The pattern itself is really easy to make, but unfortunately the fit wasn’t very good for my shape. The bust fit, but the upper bust didn’t, so I had to make some alterations to let out the gathers a little.

This was a really fun, quick & simple top to make, which I think I needed after my last epic endeavour

I love your colours. I have this pattern too and am making it at the moment. It’s so wonderfully simple but I’m not yet convinced by the fit, so thanks for putting the alteration details on your blog they may turn out to be very handy.

Lovely top! it looks great, the colour and floral detail are very nice – I also find the fit of Simplicity patterns especially tops – sometimes not quite right for me either!

Love the finish to this rescued top! It’s not clear but I guess the fabric had the floral print on one side and you used it at the hem? You didn’t mention if you painted it or bought the fabric that way. it looks great and the matching neckline really sets off the design.

Thanks! I’m really glad I went with the contrasting neckline. The fabric was a printed silk that I bought when I was in China. The navy floral print runs along the selvedges & the pink was in the centre. I really liked it & wanted to buy more but there was only 1m left on the roll.
