Los Angeles, Cal...
I’ve had this hippo fabric from IKEA for ages and finally did something with it after seeing all the animal print clothes lately at Anthro. The red and white colors, along with the fact that the hippo tails look like sparklers, made for a perfect Christmas dress. Okay, I’m a little odd to wear a hippo dress for Christmas, but it was so festive!
I used New Look 6723 as the basis for my dress (it is one of my favorite patterns as it fits me like a glove), only I added pintucks to the front. I also added a grosgrain ribbon waist stay (in green, for Christmas!), pockets in the side seams, and handpicked the zipper.
