This is a suit inspired by one from designer Nanette Lepore that I decided to make after seeing the McCall 5815 jacket featured on Erica B’s blog (http://www.ericabunker.com/2009/07/mccalls-5815-nanette-lepore-knockoff.html). The pants are from a self-drafted pattern for slim slacks with a slightly flared leg, slant pockets, and lapped fly with extended tab waist. The jacket has pleated cap sleeves with a bow collar detail. I loved sewing from this jacket pattern – you can see my review of it at Pattern Review (http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/readreview.pl?readreview=1&reviewnum=43262).
I’ve attached pictures of the finished suit, the jacket in progress, and the Nanette Lepore original.
Dark brown wool stretch suiting with cream and light brown pinstripes, caramel jacquard lining.

I like this even more than the JJ you made. I really love the collar, and the fabric. I could use something like that for work. Looks like it was tough to sew though.

Hi elainemay – I often look at Nanette Lepore stuff and think, surely I can rip that off (all those cute little ruffly jackets in fun fabrics)…and here you are proving that it can be done! Nice job! thanks for the inspiration.

I love the change of colours – it’s much more delightful in brown than in the original black! Great job again.
