I made this dress for the homecoming dance at my school. I designed the entire dress including the pattern from scratch, and really did a trial and error, pinning and taking things in as I went along. To choose the fabric I walked around my local fabric store and found colors I liked, basing my design on the fabric I found.
Hopefully when I find time in the near future I will put up my pattern and all the notes about how I fitted it.
I used a purple polyester blend and Black lace, but this dress could be made out of any fabric that drapes nicely.

I love the idea.
though there is something disturbing about the hanging bottom corner of the founce. I think it would be better if it continued all around the hem, or became really narrow at the bottom. Oh well.. but that’s just me.

I actually thought that too. I wanted to tack it into the hem, but I didn’t have time. I finished the dress just in time to get ready and go to the dance.
