Description

Tote made using Amy Butler’s Weekender Travel Bag pattern. Easy pattern to work with, but rather expensive to make. Went through approximately 9 needles stitching through all the required layers too. I may have saved myself some frustration had I used the suggested width of cording. All in all happy with the results. Was a little magical when I finaly turned it right side out to view. May even make another.

Material Notes

Heavy weight upholstery fabric, Peltex, green linen for pocket lining and interior, green piping

Difficulty

Intermediate

If you make continuous bias tape, you barely need any fabric at all to get five yards of bias strips! Once upon a time I found a yardage calculator on a quilting blog, but I have no idea where now. Your bag is fabulous, and I actually really like the subtlely of the piping rather than cording, which is a lot more noticeable.

Great Job on the BAG. I have the pattern and stopped at the cording, because I did not want to make cording. But since I seen your bag I will get busy and make some cording (not that hard)!!!

I used some basic piping (smaller than called for), but found some upholstery cording later that I wish I would have used. You’ll need five yards of it and to make it yourself on the bias can get pricey. I suggest saving yourself the trouble and buying some! Good luck.
