I just came back from a holiday in Surfer’s Paradise and while packing I completely underestimated how warm and sunny it would be, so I only took only mid-long sleeved tops.. Being “winter” there were no light weight, short sleeve tops to be found in the stores so luckily while cruising the Salvos stores looking for vintage patterns (sadly there were none), I found a brand new mini sewing machine for $5, some cotton tape and a lovely floral dress which was a little worse for wear up top, but with a perfect skirt. I snapped them up for a grand total of $10 and used nayantara’s how to as inpiration to put together this top… I’m actually surprised at how well the machine sewed, even through two layers of fabric and cotton tape! I had to bind all the edges with the tape as the fabric was very flimsy – but over all it did the job for the rest of the holiday! I’m looking forward to making this again in summer out of some decent fabric.
