Description

I am going to a holiday party this weekend and decided to switch it up a little. I found a free bow tie pattern on Burda Style and decided to give it a try. In being creative, I combined two coordinating fabrics, so I’ll have two bow-ties in one and I also added adjustable button holes instead of the sliders, as suggested by another member (since I couldn’t find them anywhere). Luckily, I had these strap fabrics readily available at home.

Here is a link to a great step by step instructions on how to tie a bow tie.

that’s super cute. How did you use the buttons instead of the sliders? Did you make a bunch of button holes? Does it show?

Thank you. I sewed one button at the end and several button holes on the other end of the tie. I got the idea from another BurdaStyle member that created the tie using the David bowtie pattern. It’s really easy to do.

Love the tie! Combining the stripes with the polka dots is so creative! I have a rhinestone tie in “Diva’s Closet” on my website that might interest you. It doesn’t require sewing so I won’t be posting it here. It’s a store bought tie with added bling!

Cute idea with the two different fabrics! I’m going to give it a try myself.

The two contrasting fabrics are a great idea.
