I made this dress back at the start of the year which I wore to mine and Robin’s engagement party in January. I used Vogue pattern #1104 and pretty much copied the fabric choice from the model on the packet; who doesn’t love polka-dots!
I used a beautiful silk georgette from Tessuti for the body of the dress, and a silk crepe-de-chine also from Tessuti for the contrast. The dress is extremely comfortable and has a touch of vintage to it.
There is just nothing quite like wearing silk; it feels so glamorous! It is more fiddly to sew with, but so worth it in the end.

Sewers, don’t like silk scare you! Arm yourselves with Sullivan’s stabilizer spray it will temporarily stiffen the beejeezus out of the silk making it a piece of German Chocolate cake to sew.Remember, You are the Master of Your Sewing Domain. Don’t let fabric ever intimidate you! Educate yourself and you’ll be fine!

Another tip – if you don’t have stabilizer spray, use spray starch – it does pretty much the same thing.

Gorgeous!
Another good thing about silk is that it’s much more environmentally friendly than cotton. I like that. And I too love wearing silk, there’s nothing like it.

this is so lovely. i am completely in love with circles in general, and polka dots especially – they make me feel happy and like there’s a sense of order. this dress is wonderful, and it looks like it might be able to hide ‘bits’, but you don’t look like you have any of those. and i say this in all honesty, your boobs look fantastic in this dress, so i will definitely be stealing the idea.

Very sweet, I have this pattern too but I think I’ll make the frill around the front and back neck an even 5inches wide I think.
