My 8 year old daughter participated in a wax museum in school and needed a costume to portray the great Ida B.wells. She chose the fabrics and the pattern (simplicity 2843) and I got to work. Here is what we came up with. We love it! She wore the jacket with jeans the other day and it looked fab!
Bottom weight Rodeo fabric (not sure what that means) in navy for the dress and jacket (because we wanted a stiff fabric). Calico for the topand fusible lightweight interfacing. Piping, grosgrain ribbon , 3/4 and 1/2 inch buttons and an 18 in. zipper. Plain white cotton muslin for the petticoat.
