Description

I’m going to take part in the Llandridod Wells Victorian festival, Powys, Wales UK in August this year 2015. http://www.llandrindod-wells.com/victorian.html

Material Notes

I have a box of bridal fabric remnants which I brought from a charity shop. I used the remnants for the jacket and bustle. The skirt is a recycled bridal dress which I’ve been given, unpicked and used the fabric Front apron & bustle trimmed with ribbon. The waistbands were fastened with Velcro – easier and quicker. Front of the jacket I machine sewed the button holes and used genuine tiny Victorian buttons which had been given to me by a lady over 30 years ago, and she must have been at least 80 years old. She worked as a costume maker in a theatre. The hat is a recycled charity shop find decorated with bridal fabric remnants and genuine Victorian Lace which had been given to me by a lovely neighbour. The gloves are genuine Victorian, a find from a charity shop. The lace parasol I brought when we visited Venice on holiday.

Thanks , this costume certainly has lots of pieces to make up, and is proving a challenge as there are instructions missing. I’ve just bent a needle on my serger so I have to wait until a new one arrives via the post.
