Description

self drawn pattern inspired on a pair of pants from the 1830’s which I saw in a pattern book for historical costumes and uniforms published by Mller&Sohn. I used this 30 years old tweed which I have found in my mother’s storage. I love the fabric!!! It was a lot of handsewing: the haircanvas interfacing, all biasbands(about 15m) and the button holes….. A lot of things went wrong this time but in the end it was all the work worth. I can wear this pants also with suspenders. I still have frabric left. I will make another waistcoat from it, a regular one.
but it was all the work worth.

Wow Martin you impress me your work is immaculate. Love those pants very unique design. Do you do your own designs, do you sketch them? I show your work to one of my coworkers and gets in love with them. He said that if you were here he will buy all of your designs. You are such a good Taylor there so et techniques that I have not seen before. How do you come up with them?

your compliments make me blush! thanks a lot:-)
Now I should consider to come to NY in order to learn how to design. No,I don’t make sketches and I have never learned to create a dummy. I have some very good books on tailoring and historical costumes. I put my attention to details but you can’t call that designing I guess. But I love hand craft, that’s what I am.

fish-tail trousers…… just great! Just by seeing the little preview foto, I was shure, that this was something from you… because I know the fabric… haven’t you made anything else out of it? A waistcoat?

you are right, I made an asymetric waistcoat of it last summer. I still have some fabric left so I will make another waistcoat of it, a regular one.
