Description

Our Creative Director Alison has an obsession with “his & hers”. As a result, she and her fiance Dane have been musing over creating a unisex collection for quite some time. For him, we used our Amin men’s sweater pattern, substituting wool for knit. For her, a vintage-inspired swing coat, eliminating the belt pattern for a relaxed silhouette. They set up their tripod at the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch at Grand Army Plaza for the shoot.

Thanks to Pendleton Woolen Mills , the epitome of unisex cool woolen fabrics and blankets. Are you a fan of Pendleton? Follow their Facebook page.

Beautiful coats! The His one looks kind of like these: http://www.kraffs.com/62913/Native-Bomber—Leather-Jackets.html

So adorable! I’m keen to make my own now. Just wanted to know, how much extra fabric is needed for pattern matching? I think I might make an order from Pendleton!!

I love your version of both coats. For the Amin, did you have to make any changes to the pattern like add ease because it is a woven instead of a knit?

    THanks!

Hi there— The short answer is no, we didn’t add ease. The original Amin pattern has enough ease already, and the “knit” used for the original design wasn’t actually stretchy.

That wool is just perfect with both patterns. I made the 3/4 sleeve coat in a camel wool and love it to pieces… this makes me want a few more!

Excellent choice of fabrics. I’ve tried to find this and some of the other patterns shown on Burdastyle on the Pendleton website but they don’t seem to have them, or atleast in these colors. Is there any other place you can suggest to purchase their lovely wool?

We’ll look into the best source for ordering Pendleton wool online for you. Have you seen Pendleton’s Ebay Shop? There are quite a few 1-2 yard remnants listed there.

So pretty and dreamy in those colours! Could you tell us how you went about adding that seam for the pockets?

Hi peaudane— The seam where the pockets sit is included in the pattern download— the only changes I made to the pattern was to eliminate the belt loops and belt.
