For Halloween 2011 I decided I was finally going to be a 60s girl!!…and since I had finally bought a sewing machine and leearned how to sew I decided to make my costume. I bought a pattern initially for the dress, but then tweaked it a lot to fit the style I was looking for and pulled it in tighter for a better fit. I also found this AWESOME fabric at Joann fabric and Crafts that I knew was perfect for my dress and just had to use it. The name of the fabric was ‘Groovy Halloween Satin’. Hello, big sign!!…and it was on sale!! To finish it off, there is a zipper in the back and I sewed black bias around the edges for a cool look. Oh, and it’s a good idea to use fray check because the fabric will split and pull when sewn since it’s satin. also, since I created a low back I attached a piece of string on both sides at the tops of the shoulders to keep the straps up. There was also enough fabric left over to create a matching headband.
