With a simple circle cut from an old pair of jeans, you can make this beautiful beret. It is fully lined which gives it body, and trimmed with ornate ribbons and brass buttons. The stylish contrast between the lush trims and the rugged denim is awesome and not only a super fun sewing project but equally stunning to wear.
This is a project from my sewing book Denim Revolution (link to book info below) but the instructions right now can be found on the craftzine blog or my blog.
The sewing steps are basic, but the beauty of the beret is making it delicately, with joy in your sewing and expressing your personal taste in the colors and style of ribbons. Once you make one, you may want to make others. It can easily be re-sized for kids and even babies, embellished with a variety of different trims and colors used for the accents. Enjoy the images and also the sketch of the denim beret with the red velvet Harlequin pants. Happy sewing!
