wanted something new to wear for Christmas, but new clothes means I have found some extra in my PC budget… and that is not happening! so…. I was inspired to make a cute high waisted party skirt out of some material I found at my local IKEA- 17 hours away by train… (yeah, I know, I have to be careful, otherwise I could end up going to a party and matching the couch… its a risk I was willing to take!:) so… I pretty much just threw the skirt together in a few days… ( a few long days since I have no sewing machine here… besides my poor exhausted hands!) I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out… a little shorter than I’d usually go… and a little more orange… but its very pixie… or so I think! : )
I used box pleats on this skirt… a little more measuring than I am usually willing to do… but I think they turned out pretty cool… always more to learn!
I used a canvasy heavy duty fabric from IKEA… not ideal for most apparel… but worked well — holding the shape of the box pleats perfectly! : ) also… the pockets were made from plaid fabric from a local minority group in my town.
