I saw a dress at forever 21 I really liked the fabric it was a little stiff and sorta metallic but they didn’t have it in my size so when I saw some fabric similar to it I bought it and made my own!
The fabric is a little stiff I don't know what it is normally used for but I love it for my dress!

Also, for the small ruffles on the neckline, did you make a facing for them, or did you just stitch them on and called it good? I’m relatively new to sewing, so I don’t know if it is necessary to cover the raw edges with a facing or not.

I have been sewing a long time although I’m not good with sewing terminology so hopefully this makes sense haha. I took the black fabric folded it in half then sewed it onto the gold/black fabric and I could have just left it like that and it would have been fine but the fabric is a little itchy so I added a facing to the whole top part of the dress so there isn’t any raw edges. Hopefully that helps! And in my opinion as long as it looks good on the outside the raw edges on the inside aren’t too important.

This dress is adorable! Great work and fabric choice. I swear, I can never find anything in my size at F21 because everything there is MINISCULE! I’m sure your version is way cuter and in no way involved sweatshop labor either. ;)
