Hey Mr, she's my SISTER! The Pippa Middleton Copy-Cat

Added May 5, 2012

Melbourne, Austr...

When Butterick patterns released their versions of the Royal bridal dress and bridesmaid dress I knew I was going to get me a copy.

I guess that makes me a little bit creepy.

Recently I decided to set myself a challenge of making a garment to fit someone else’s body. In the past everything I’ve made has been for myself and so the adjustments were always the same.
When I flicked through my pattern stash I re-discovered this pattern and realized the shape would work perfectly on my sister Angeline! And I do love me a copy-cat dress!

This dress is made of 100% wool crepe, is fully lined, trimmed with lace and has 36 fabric covered buttons as a closure down the centre back.

i saw an original of one of these dresses when i was in london last year. it’s an alexander mcqueen, and i was wandering through harrods (as one does), and it is as beautiful in person as it is in photos; i was going to put together a pattern for myself, and make it out of velvet that i’m salvaging from a laura ashley horror. it is a truly remarkable design. lovely dress, wonderful trim. hoorah!

Oh, that is just so so pretty! Is she getting married, or was it just for the sake of the exercise? She looks lovely either way!

Ha! Well it is the first time I’ve had someone else wear my clothes so I can understand that being your first thought! Thanks Kasiorist x
