I call this my Wire Dress because I put millinery wire in the hem of the dress and separate under skirt to add volume and get the funky twirling effect. Godets in the skirt helpf add fullness, and the back has a low scooped neckline. The dress is made of gray silk dupioni and is lined with contrast cotton paisley. The under skirt is lined with a polka dot silk. The bodice has a coutill underlining and steal coil boning to provide the comfort of a corset. I added a red grosgrain ribbon waist stay.
silk, cotton, coutil, coil boning

It’s not heavy at all!! The under skit is actually rediculusy light (it’s made and line with silk) and the dress isn’t too bad because it has a waist stay which keeps most of the weight on the hips!

That’s clever! And it allows multiple shaping! Great one!
