This is the dress from the Hermonia Gardens scene in my school’s spring musical, Hello, Dolly!, circa 1900. Princess seamed bodice with lace front panel lined in sequins, lace covered and fringe trimmed cap sleeves, lace and sequin waistband edged in looooong fringe, gored skirt with busled lace covered back panel, edged in lace and sequins. Two headdresses, one ‘long’ and one ‘short’, each with ostrich feathers and a lace, sequin, and jeweled hair comb. A sequined lace choker with red and silver jewels. Designed by me and sewn by our sewing club: Kai (BubbleGumGirl55), Kyndra, and me.
Unfortunatly these photos were taken during a dress rehersal where several things went wrong. The actress and her mother decided to put a black sweater over the dress, because they thought it was too ‘immodest’ (thick straps and opera length gloves, that is. They added the sweater after we added the cap sleeves to stop them complaining. They later claimed they hadn’t seen the sleeves. They also rented her a whole new wardrobe to use instead of the expensive school-bought one, with costumes ranging across several historical periods, none of which were the right one. But I’m not bitter.) Also, the actress was wearing her own choker and removed both her headdresses instead of just one, which is why they’re only in one picture. The headdresses are falling over in the picture they are in because the actress and her mother ignored repeated requests not to tease her hair as the combs didn’t stay very well in it. The fourth picture is showing the back panel, and the last picture is showing the neckline unobscured by the sweater.
Red crepe, black lace, black and red fringe, ostrich feathers, jewels, and sequins, sequins, sequins! We tried to stick loose glitter to the black lace, but I guess Aqua Net just isn't what it used to be.

It looks Amazing! And im extremely mad at this actress for giving all Actresses a bad rep!!! Thats Terrible, when so much work went into it, to not wear it! Pardon the extreme punctuation but that really chaps my Khakis! Well done!

Oh dear… does the word “Diva” sound familiar? The costume looks lovely – too bad the audience didn’t get to see it.

I’m sorry, they thought that was immodest?! Maybe it’s just because her daughter doesn’t have anything worth seeing anyway.
It looks stunning and must have taken hours, well done you xx
