This is the free download “Helena” Skirt in a soft, lightweight patterned denim. I love the shape of this skirt. I ended up cutting it out in a size 12 but eeking out a little bit more room in the waist (less seam allowance) so that the skirt would fit lower and eyeballing the pleats in the skirt. This is a very easy, straightforward pattern, with so much potential for variation.
I added in-seam pockets in a contrasting quilting cotton. Next time, I’ll make the pockets less noticeable in a MATCHING (or darker) fabric! But they do the trick – they hold my BART card on my way to work.

I used a very light denim with an almost stripe-like white thread running through it. I used yellow thread for a “jeans” appearance.

Thanks everyone! I’m really happy with it and can’t wait to make another! Great pattern. (A little hard to figure out where the pleats are supposed to be, but as I said, I ended up adjusting that anyway.) I need a version that is appropriate for work – on non-casual-friday days.
