Finally got round to making the Helena pattern! I need some simple/ plain separates to wear to work rather than constantly making pretty dresses.
Went a size up in this as I thought the pattern looked small, but definitely no need, I had to make the pleats bigger and take in the side seams, so I think it’s quite generous. I love it from the front and back, but I do look like I’m pregnant from the side so I might take it in again.
Made a detachable bow to go at the back if I’m not wearing a cardigan, and wherever I fancy really. For once I loved the hand sewing of all the buttons as I just sat in front of Desperate Housewives!
Hope you like as much as I do!
An absolute bargain – it was an end of roll 3m piece (but the fabric was doubled over so I really got 6m) of ridiculously wide fabric. All for £8!! I think it’s some kind of cotton blend, kind of medium weight and possibly upholstery-esque originally!
Hit the city streets in adventurous looks with utilitarian details like cargo pockets and belts.
Twists on feminine classics, like a bold patterned shift dress and pants with a racing stripe.
