I have been working on these fold-over clutches and simple zipper pouches for a while now. Many lessons have been learnt along the way: Industrial sewing machines HATE metal zips as much as domestic ones, hours of print and pattern alignment causes intense and lasting psychosis, brief lapses of attention caused by sleep deprivation/wine/christmas stress can be fatal to your sewing project, even if it is just a glorified square. Oh yes, and getting so stressed that you start screeching at those around you like a banshee is just going to make you look like an idiot. Every day’s a school day!
You can see these babies in situ (in the window of Edinburgh shop Concrete Wardrobe!) over on my Facebook page. They are designed under my real name (Emily Millichip):
One of the most beloved American designers passed last night. We look back at a few of his designs.
