this week at sew weekly, mena got us all gussied up for the royal wedding.
my attempts to keep my hat on were almost successful… more on that, and more pictures, at oonaballoona: hat’s off
i used simplicity 2473, a project runway patterns. i like these patterns, it’s very easy to mix & match the pieces you want.
i used self covered fabric buttons which were SO much fun to make. unfortunately, getting them in a straight line with my self made loops was unsuccessful. oh well, at least they're not in the front! i did away with the bodice zip, totally inspired by pampula's nude pearl dress buttoned back.

Love the mix of color, texture and material. The lace looks like a leopard print from a far.

I just love this dress and think you shouldn’t wait for the next wedding to wear it! You should ask Ruggy to take you out!!! :)

yes, but where do we go? high tea at the waldorf? a lecture on famous women in literature? the possibilities are… well, non-existent….

Stripes, lace, and fabric covered buttons!
What an oustanding example of bringing elements together and orchestrating them into something stunning.
You did it again!!!

thank you! the mixing & matching is my favorite part of this dress. i’m probably going to keep it in my closet just to pat myself on the back about it.
