These were all props i made for my sons 7th birthday party (he’s now 13). They all look a little mangy cause a awful lot of playing has happened in the interviening years. Hedwig is a perminant fixture on his bed, and only gets put in her cage when he goes to school. The cage was a shiny white, i aged it with silver and black spray paint. I made the Hedwig pattern on the fly. Turned out well for not much planning. The benie patterns are from ‘Charmed Knits’, my first foray into charts and colour work. The Sorting Hat was made from an ancient leather jacket and lives on his book case. The Griffindor scarf took me a week to knit (thank haven for a dodgy back) and was worn to the ‘Chamber of Secrets’ Premiere. The cauldron started it’s life as a plant pot and champagne corks. The painting of fruit was attached to the kitchen door. Spell book was made with coffee, cardboard and an oven. I made two for each house. I had no life for some weeks preceeding the party. The robe fitted really well when i made it 3 years ago. He has started his weed like growth spurt. Oh well. There is a small 7 year old in the house eagerly awaiting the passing on when i make his new one.
