Description

I saw this coated fleece, it was really cheap. Red fleece from one side, imitation of leather on the other. I thought I would make a jacket. It was meant to be a “wannabe” biker´s jacket – when you come closer, you can see that it is no leather, the edges are not hemmed (the fabric doesn´t unravel), the collar is not doubled – it is simply a parody :-)

I used a Burda magazine pattern and added some details using the inner side of the fabric. It seems that there is a red piping in the seams but it is not. I just sewed the pieces so that they overlap (wrong side and right side meet), I trimmed the upper allowance and then I cut away the coating at the edge of the allowance so that the red fleece peeks out.

(I´ll be most happy if English native speakers let me know about all mistakes that I made in this text. Thanks!)

Your jacket is really cool. I absolutely love it. I would like to try to sew something with leather but have been too intimidated to try. Your alternative is a good solution.

I’d love to see a close-up detail of those seams. It sounds like very interesting construction.

I can’t agree more with the other comments. You look so cool in this jacket. It’s very nice the way the fabric qualities point out the seams of this design. You couln’t have taken a better fabric in my opinion!

What a cool jacket! I love the detail with the red fleece. Until you pointed out the lack of seams in the collar/ sleeves etc, and the lack of piping, I never noticed it. Oh, and your English usage is just fine!

Don’t worry, your English is better than most native english speakers! Better grammar too! Very clever use of both sides of the fabric!
