I made this skirt out of fabric from a grab bag I got for $3.99 at a thrift store. I love the wild Harlequin colors of the big checks so much! I made it out of the bottom half of the vintage pattern I used for my last dress, basically just to get the size and shape of the 6 gores right, and laid out on the bias of the fabric, but forgot that the dress’s waist had been too big for me, so I had to gather the skirt when I added the waistband. Then I added the belt loops with pointy ends and decorative buttons. The wide waistband and belt loops are optimized for the specific belt I am wearing in the photos!
It was a very quick project but not exactly the neatest result, but no one other than me will know it, and I looooove the bright bright bright colors!

It is very bright and cheery! Isn’t it good when you make your own clothes and can do things like making belt loops/waistbands to match the belt you will wear?!
