Description
I’ve been wanting to make myself a pair of harem pants, a la Hedi Slimane’s Dior mens collection from a few years back. I chose Simplicity 4788, a sort of mens “Arabian Nights” costume pattern. I took about 5 inches off the rise, 4 off the middle, and shortened them to mid-calf.
A lot more on my blog, Male Pattern Boldness. (www.malepatternboldness.blogspot.com)
I made a muslin out of an old cotton poly sheet, which you can also see below. Much baggier.
Material Notes
I used a soft, drapey, very lightweight cotton print I found in the Garment District. The contrasting waistband is in a cotton stripe.

They work. I’m scared. I preferred the mens swimwear. What did Cathy say when she saw these? Or has she donated them to goodwill by now? ;)

I think they are sitting at the bottom of a plastic fabric storage box — the box of shame! ;)

Try them! They’re super comfortable and not hard to make.

You Can’t Touch This…. lol
Peter darling, you know I adore your stuff, but I I’ve got to be honest, I hate these trousers! Not these ones in particular, I just hate this style of trousers and believe that the only people that can get away with wearing them are Kate Moss or Siena Miller and even so… I’d like to have harsh words with MC Hammer because of them… well and his singing too of course. lol. Still, they have an element of fun and you are my HERO for wearing them. Look forward to seeing more of you. xx

Super cool pants dude! You look really sharp in it! It is funny it actually does work with that tailored jacket…plus the necktie belt! Very innovative look!
