This is a project I completed a while ago, before I discovered Burda. My Pal Sunday deux piece is based on this one. The very stretch fabric hides any imperfections and renders a great fit.
The bodice is made up of: back is cut from 2 pieces and has 2 darts; two smaller pieces sewn together and attached to the lower margin of the top. Front as seen, four pieces of fabric, two identical ones on each side. Corner pieces attached to the lower margin give the whole bodice an elegant, classic line.
The skirt is really simple (as seen, plus two darts on each side for shape); on this one I placed the zipper on a side, as opposed to the Palm Sunday piece, where the zipper is at the back. I have reinforced the waistline with a band hand stictched from the inside.
This outfit will never be out of fashion, it is very light and never creases. It is easy to take away on holidays for those nights on the beach. It washes well and dries in 5 minutes in the sun. No dry cleaners, what a relief!
I made my own patterns from newspapers, happy to share them. This is cut for a size 8-10 (curvy)
vintage Polyester 100% and vintage buttons, removed from my mum’s old kitchen gown!
