I purchased this pattern a year ago, but now as my 19th birthday approaches the dress seems less cute and more child-like.
My least favourite thing is HEMMING dresses. They never look quite right.

there is an instrument that looks like a wooden box with a ruler up it and a clip at the top (to pin threw), i dont know what it is called, but if u put the dress on a dressform and then use it to measure up from the ground, it works great. id ask about it at a fabric and supply store. good luck. it looks amazing!

You. are. so. pretty. Seriously! oh i think wearing leggings with it (like leggings that go about down to your ankles) would make it look more grown up. Also like a black cardigan over it. You know, those black things that everyone has! I think that would look good but you never know i might be totally wrong! The pictures are very nice BTW.

i might try leggings, but i have actually tried a black cardigan and it works perfectly! thanks for the advice lol. maybe wearing a cardigan will help me adjust into wearing this around :)
thanks again for your very kind words :)

Its really cute. You could definitely pull it off. Im glad you decided to ditch the big patch pockets on it (as the pattern cover shows).

the problem with hemming for me was how to make it STRAIGHT. like how to measure where i should hem it. we decided to measure up from the ground but its not the best system i’m sure.
thankyou though, that is an interesting technique!

So adorable, it reminds me of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. And I think it’s totally wearable.

Haha i thought of Dorothy too when i finished it.. which is why i was afraid it was too much of a ‘young’ fashion. Thanks though, everyone here is making me feel more confident in wearing it.
