Dharma Trading are great, I get most of my supplies from them. They also have great tutorials on silk painting techniques and of course all the materials you’ll ever need.

Very pretty! I’ve been wanting to try painting on silk. Dharma Trading Company has silk by the yard as well as fabric dyes, information and even kits to try. I haven’t purchased from them yet, but I have a wish list :)

I also like the silk-painting. I recently saw a photo in a magazine of a silk dress also painted with color! I would really like to do something like that, too! Silk is not so cheap, but I think there are also other textile colors for other fabrics, but I think it is not the same effect as on silk, where the colors flow into one another.

I’ll gladly give you some tips. Silk is expensive but you can find some good deals, and it you buy it in bulk you can get some major savings. but I must warn you there is quite a bit to dying or painting, in that you have to steam it for a couple of hours at 200+ degrees to set the colour.

Hi! I love the idea of painting the silk for a dress. I recently saw a wonderful maxi dress at Monsoon that was so expencive, but not really hard in the pattern. so I thought I could make it by myself. unfortunately I know nothing about painting on silk, alternative material (I guess pure silk is rather expensive) and so on. Maybe you can give me some tipps???
