Burda Style For people who sew
Description
When we saw these large plastic grommets from Dritz we knew exactly how to utilize them! Building on looks that Cynthia Rowley sent down the runway for spring 2011 featuring large circular cutouts on skirts, dresses and tops, we decided to take that same idea but add the large grommets for extra effect. We think the results are pretty fantastic and can’t wait to use this quick and easy technique as a finishing touch for loads more projects and pieces! i wore thick tights – but you could definitely add lining in a contrasting (or matching) color to keep out the cold.

I love the idea but agree not centre front. Maybe on skirt front side panel & wear contratsting tights. Might achieve the idea without the ‘view’.

I’d love to try this with grommets in a contrasting color – but not in a chevron design up the front of a skirt. LOL! Thanks for the idea!

I guess this look falls in the love-it-or-hate-it category. It’s not for me. I actually just got rid of dress/tunic with circular cut-outs near the hem (not nearly this big) because I found it cumbersome to wear. It’s rather impractical. But I suppose I can add it to the ways-to-hide-a-hole-in-your-favourite-garment folder. Three cheers for innovation, even if I don’t love the results.

I love the hide-a-hole idea. Since I’m in the “love it” category, it might work for me. :)
Though on second thought, inserting a contrasting piece of fabric instead of a hole might be better for modesty…

FYI…..these grommets are not washable they need to be removed before the garment is laundered or dry cleaned . So the edge of the fabric needs to be finished in some way.
